Disneyland Raises Ticket Prices AGAIN -- Video to Reduce Your Cost

I don't pay too much attention about the ticket prices since I have an annual passport, but I was a little pissed off when Disneyland raised their gate prices again. $137 just to get a park hopper ticket is too much, so I put together a quick video to show you how to find some discounts:

Animal Hedges around Disneyland

I'm always on the lookout for unusual things to photograph at Disneyland.  These photos were taken on February 15, 2011 (Valentine's Day) where I spent a lovely "hot" day at the park.  It was her day so we had to do more of the girly rides and It's a Small World was the one ride she likes just to get out of the sun for a while.

Personally, the ride drives me crazy with the repetitiveness of the song that gets stuck in my head for the remainder of the day, so I try to plan this towards the end of the day.  Unfortunately, this was early in the morning and I ended up singing a lot that day.

Did you know that just in Fantasyland alone, there are 15 attractions that you can see or ride at Disneyland?  These attractions do not have any height restrictions so their tailored to mostly toddlers and preschool aged kids.  The rides are co-located so there's not a lot of walking to get to the next attraction.  Lines are short so the wait time is usually under 20 minutes.

Are Disneyland Annual Passports a Good Deal?

Last December (2011), we wanted to watch the Candlelight Processional on Saturday.  Our passports expired 6 months before in June, but we didn't renew at that time.  We even took my wife's brother and his wife to Disneyland around that time, but because I thought it would be a hassle to buy annual passes for us, the we decided just to go the more expensive route with park hopper tickets.

Part of the problem was that our passports were blocked out during the summer months and we had to upgrade to the Deluxe to take advantage of the day we attended.  Since I over analyze things and I'm always trying to find the best way to get discounted Disneyland tickets, we didn't renew and paid the full ticket price.

So here are the facts:

Should I buy the Southern California Select Passport?
  • First you have to reside in So. Cal.
  • Second, only get this if you don't want to visit on weekends or during the summer months and you can visit 2 or more times a year.

Should I buy the Southern California Passport?
  • First you have to reside in So. Cal.
  • Second, only get this if you don't want to visit on Saturdays and during the summer months and you can visit 3 or more times a year.

Should I buy the Deluxe Passport?
  • Only get this if you don't want to visit on Saturdays and you can visit 4 or more times a year.

Should I buy the Deluxe Passport?
  • Only get this if you want to attend Disneyland without restrictions and at least 5 times a year.

Should you add parking to your passport?
  • The answer is no.  But if you visit Disneyland 7 or more times a year, it is a good deal.  Otherwise, just pay the $15 parking fee.

Free Coffee at Disneyland?

What's Better than Free Parking? Free Coffee!

Market House on Main Street (Flickr Photo/Loren Javier)
Yes -- sorta -- you can get free (brewed) coffee at Disneyland.  All you have to do is buy a cup first at the Market House on Main Street and you get free refills all day long.   Just keep your receipt and get a refill whenever you feel like a nice cup of coffee.

We like to get there early in the morning and that first cup from the Market House boosts our energy to get to the rides faster.  At the end of the day we refill and head over to California Adventure and wait in line to ride Soaring.  Usually it gets a little chilly in the fall and winter, so the warm Jo keeps us warm while in line.

We usually rap up the park with another visit to the Market House to keep us awake on the drive home.  We probably save about $20 per visit getting free coffee throughout the day.  But because we're Annual Passport Holders, we get another 10% off!

The Market House is not on the map, but walk down Main Street towards Cinderella's Castle and the coffee shop is on the right side about midway down.
